Futurama Brickcraft Box 001 Baby bender Review
Ah, Brickcraft. I had such high hopes going into this build, until you decided to throw a sticker at me. Let's get into it...
Price and Value (3.5/5)
At 138 pieces and 20 dollars, the set works out to about 14.5 cents per piece, which is on the high side for what you're getting. The Zoidberg box was a better price to piece ratio for the same base price and 50 or so more pieces.
Build Experience (3/5)
The total build time is around 20 to 30 minutes, which makes this a great option when you’re in the mood to build something but don’t have a lot of time or even while watching an episode of Futurama! The biggest gripe here is the sticker sheet, which has even smaller stickers as part of it, and because of how the stickers are meant to be applied, the tiniest amount of force locks the little ones in place and you aren't moving them without ripping them, committing to whatever potential crooked angle you were applying at. For this reason alone, build experience drops. I also HATED putting the background in. For whatever reason, I struggled here.
WOW Factor (3.5/5)
In the same mind as the Zoidberg box, it's cool, but not something that is outright "WOW!" when you see it. It's a neat little display piece that stacks nicely with Zoidberg or other BOX! series kits, but otherwise, it's just a fan piece for fans of Futurama and not a whole lot more. It doesn't hold the same place as the Planet Express ship does on the shelf.
Final Thoughts
As before, the BOX! line is a great idea, and I hope they keep expanding it. Being able to nicely stack and display these together is great for shelf space and making sure you can see them. I'm looking forward to whatever ones they come out with next.
